Capturing Nature Photography Contest
The Independence Public Library is looking for photos taken here in Iowa that capture the wonder of nature. Participants may enter one (1) photo for consideration between March 6 and March 19. The photo must be of nature (wildlife, plants, natural scenery) with no human beings in photo. Winners in three age categories (ages 5-11, ages 12-17, and ages 18 and up) will receive a prize.
To Enter:
Email your photo to iplprograms@gmail.com (.jpg or .png formats only) or drop off a 5 x 7 photo printed on photo paper between March 6 and March 19.
Entries must include:
- Name
- Age
- Location photo was taken
- A caption, if desired
- Preferred method of contact (please provide a phone number or email address).
All emailed entries will be printed to a size of 5 x 7 inches.
Official Contest Rules
Photo Eligibility
Participants may enter one (1) photo between March 6 and March 19. Any type of camera or device may be used to take photos. Photo must be taken in the state of Iowa, primarily of nature (buildings and other man-made structures in the photo are allowed) and no human beings may be in the photo.
Photographer/Copyright
By submitting a photo entry, you certify that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo. The contest is open to amateur photographers only. Professional photographers who earn a living by selling their photographs are not eligible to participate. There is no fee for entering the contest.
Photo Subject Restrictions
Independence Public Library has the right to refuse to display an entry based upon questionable or disallowed content.
Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed in the Library and on the Library’s website and/or social media without any fee or other form of compensation.
Judging:
Photo entries will be posted in the Library with no identifying information, and entries will be judged by the general public. Winners will be notified using the information provided in the entry submission. Winning photographs, along with the photographer’s name and information about the photo will be displayed on the library’s website and social media pages, as well as displayed in the library.
