OBOI: Suitcase Exhibit: Independence Historical Figures

Visit this exhibit at the Lee Mansion featuring suitcases containing memorabilia from the lives of some of the most prominent citizens of historic Independence. Additional dates available.

Visit the Independence Public Library’s One Book One Independence (OBOI) suitcase exhibit
inside the historical Lee Mansion from 12:00-3:30 pm. The exhibit idea stems from the OBOI
2019 selection What She Left Behind by Ellen Marie Wiseman.

“Suitcase Exhibit: Independence Historical Figures” features suitcases containing memorabilia representing the lives of some of the most prominent citizens of historic Independence including mayor Daniel S. Lee, local entrepreneur, developer, and racehorse owner Charley Williams, artist Robert Tabor, and others.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Lee Mansion will be open for this exhibit Sundays, February 10, 17, and 24 from 1:00-4:00 pm, Tuesdays, February 12, 19, and 26 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, and Thursdays, February 14, 21, and 28 from 4:00-7:00 pm.

Captain Daniel S. Lee, army captain & politician
Frank Megow, blacksmith
Perry Munson, businesssman & developer

Charley Williams, entrepeneur and race track/horse owner
Admiral Harry E. Yarnell, Navy Admiral
